In our work, especially in an office, making a  presentation is a normal thing to do at every position. An employee, supervisor, manager, and other positions should be able to present their ideas and their work. Most of them use Microsoft Powerpoint application to create and visualize their presentations. I am currently using Microsoft Powerpoint 2010 [Windows] and iWork Keynote 2009 [Mac]. In this case I will mention the ‘presentation’, Ms. Powerpoint or Keynote 2009 as a ‘powerpoint’ because it was more commonly used applications.

There are many things you need to know about your presentation so you can achieve the best result and aim the right target, also useful for you and your colleagues and your boss.

1. Make an outline before making a presentation
I often see some people write their ideas and their work directly on PowerPoint slides. This method is not wrong, but it’s much better if we put all our minds and the concept  in outline form first before pouring it in powerpoint. If there is a lot of slides that you created, then you will have difficulty reading your presentation globally.

2. Use the appropriate background
Many people choose a background with carelessly. A good background powerpoint background is not only supports the theme of your presentation, but also the background is not interfere the writing / text you want to be included. I see a lot of people use too plain or too crowded background images. Many people use textured tiled image as the background or nature wallpaper as a background. This would not be a problem if you can create offset the placement of your text so your text can be clearly seen. Choose a background that has a ‘blank spot’ for the placement of your text. If you still want to use a noisy background, create a shape layer to the background of your text so that text can be seen clearly.

3. Use the appropriate color harmony
The way you match the color-mixing will greatly influence your powerpoint slides. Creating a powerpoint indirectly increasing your graphic design skills. Mix and match the appropriate color can be learned with practice and ask for feedback from your friends.

4. Choose an image / clipart appropriate
Clipart / images supporters is something quite important in powerpoint. Powerpoint clipart can make your presentation look attractive and easily remembered by your audience. Try to choose the right picture in your slide. If you do not find the right picture, it’s better not to add an image in your slide than you confuse your audience.

5. Choose the font and font color that is easy to read :: whitefangz.com::
Decorative type fonts will only be suitable for headers and titles. Do not use decorative fonts that are difficult to read to write your important points. Use the fonts that are comfortable to read with comfortable size.

6. Create a theme
If you make a powerpoint slide in a large amount, keep each slide you create has a similar design theme. Do not use themed background nature and techno in one presentation file because this will make your presentation look unfocused.

Actually, I made a presentation based on the outline that was made before. I made a similar pattern to the same level of numbering. For example, background and font color will be similar to points I, II, III ,…. and so on. Background and font color will be the same at points a, b, c ,…. and so on.

Finally, you need a lot of practice in making powerpoint. The more often you make a powerpoint, you will understand how to make a better powerpoint.

Do not be afraid to experiment, hopefully this article useful!
