What the F&@# Are you doing?!

One thing that seems to be missing here is tolerance, each person earns the credits necessary to show their ad, banner or page from their own efforts or money, so we have to be careful not to try and tell them how to run their business any more than we want them telling us what to do with our credits. Freedom of expression is everyone's right.

@insidmal It would be great for everyone business on TE if everyone felt that way and did just that. A lot of sites and gurus teach people to do it. When I was a newbie I read how to do it in traffic hoopla. I don't use traffic exchanges at all now but from what I do know spending the time to pay attention to everyone's site meant the less credits that I can build up for my site.

@Ereka - power surfing is highly ineffective, if you aren't taking the time to get to know the community in the TE and to get to know the other surfers and to engage them, you are wasting your time, why buy it from you when they could buy it from a friend? Become a friend.

@Ereka Just a fast loading splash page or lead capture page offering something for free that helps them. If you give first you shall receive later. The rest of the junk you see out there I call desperation marketing.

@sunshineguy Traffic exchanges are easy enough to understand, you see other members sites and they see yours. You hit upon the keys to your success in your post. Use a splash or lead capture page with your photo on it. In both cases, give away a free ebook like Click Traffic Mastermind which deals with how to get results from traffic exchanges. @Corey - yeah I was in a steaming tirade when I typed it too so I was just like AAAAH Venting, it could easily have been just the way I presented it that made it somewhat unclear.

Hi John, I've been loving your articles of late. I've been reading like mad to understand how to make TE's work and branding myself and advertising a program. Hopefully I am learning to avoid the mistakes you and others are talking about and it's great to have you leading the charge.

@Philippe it's working and I only set one a month as my goal to do just fine. I need to leave a few for someone else to sell, I don't want to get greedy.

@Oldbuddy, as long as the product is legitimate and works, I don't really have a problem with what you're saying. I do hope the way you approach people stands out, else, you're not selling as many as you could, IMHO

I'm sorry, but you can't argue with what works and if it didn't work, they would quit when they found out. The reason you keep seeing it, is because it does work for some of them. I have one opportunity I sell and the reason I don't focus on the product is everyone already buys it, so the opportunity is the only thing that makes want to buy from me. As long as it keeps working, you are not going to change my mind.

The Newer TE are going Social that's a Great Move. And John is Right folks are selling the Opportunity and not the products. If there is no good product what good is the Opportunity.

There's a reason we see new TEs appear just about every week, with better and better features : They work if we work them !

Using the splash pages provided by the owners of a site or product sure won't get you much result. You gotta create your own splash pages, to stand out from the crowd. I know, it's more work, and your splash page might not look as nice as the official ones. B

Good article, that's why I say traffic exchanges are a complete waste of time an energy.
