Medicare Leads: Attain New Customers For Medical Insurance Businesses

by Linda Armenta
Medicare leads are possibilities of getting potential clients, at least in the view of a health care insurance agent. Leads are persons who are eligible for medicare and can therefore be contacted about the opportunity to get insured by the company. This is a potential sales opportunities which form the basis for a medical insurance salesperson.

Medicare is a term applied to the program instituted as a social welfare drive to take care of persons over sixty five years of age and older as well as those who may be younger but have disabilities. Still others may carry permanent illness, specifically kidney disease and would require round the clock care. These would qualify as well.

The program has three spheres of focus, in terms of the methods used to administer the healthcare. There is the more comprehensive hospital care, where a person is bed-ridden and admitted to a hospital. This would continue to the patients post-admittance, when the patient is convalescing at home.

Then the second part is medical cover, also referred to as part B. This part is voluntary, and requires all who would like to benefit to pay a customary premium. The payment plan is flexible for the person, in accordance with the client's ability to pay. This is out-patient care that the prospective patient would receive and may include doctor visits. If it is necessary to include therapy during treatment, then this part of the cover would suffice.

Thirdly, the other aspect of this program would deal with the provision of prescription drugs to the patient. This is covered, as long as the person would sign up for the plan immediately they qualify. This is to avoid the resulting fine that occurs when a prospective policy holder does not sign up at the time they qualify.

Since in reality it is health insurance that is being sold, the medical insurance firms are the ones tasked with the job of selling it. Their agents have to find people who have the necessary criteria to join the scheme. Such people do not usually line up to benefit from the policy, that is why it is essential to provide them with the information they need. The fact is there are very many insurance firms and the competition within agents is cut-throat, because commissions are involved. This also presents a problem for the genuine candidates for this policy as they are bombarded by the agents, and may be confused as to who to listen to.

There are lead generation companies that exist solely for this purpose. They work on finding these candidates for the healthcare program and then agents can go to them to see whether they would begin using the policy. These firms are useful in that they possess vast experience, they collect their own information and they check their information. This frees up the agent. The primary and now only focus would be the job of encouraging the prospect to buy the policy. This is as opposed to doing the fishing and then following up on people who may not qualify.

Medicare leads are the be-all and end-all of an agents business. Without quality leads, there can be no conversion and no sale. Also the qualifying person may not get the needed healthcare. That is why it is important to have an expert team to come up with leads.
