Strategically Placed Golf Netting Makes Neighbors Neighborly
Even people who love golf don't like to see bad things happen when a ball goes where it isn't supposed to. In general people get very unhappy when their houses or cars or kids or dogs are hit by golf balls. They tend to initiate lawsuits and worse. Sometimes they start crusades to have the golf course closed down or forced to move someplace where nobody wants to go. All that can be prevented by the judicious use of golf netting.
If you own a golf course or are a member of a golf club or even if you play golf in your backyard you probably know the importance of keeping golf balls off of other peoples' property. Often the best and least expensive way of doing this is by installing golf netting.
Not long ago a group of angry citizens sued a country club because balls from the golf course were coming into the homeowners' yards. Of course some people said you shouldn't live next to a golf course if you don't like golf balls. They acted like having golf balls in the yard was not a big problem and it wasn't yet. But how long would it be before some person, animal or expensive car was hit and seriously injured by a stray golf ball?
What is important to notice about this situation is that form many years homeowners did not complain about stray golf balls and there were no golf balls in their yards to complain about. There had been a golf net in place that kept golf balls on the club property. At some point the net had gotten worn out and was failing to do its job.
Maybe it was a really old net that had come over on the Mayflower and had finally died after many years of honorable service. Maybe it had been kind of a flimsy net but nobody cared because nobody hit the ball very hard anyway. Maybe the club was suddenly inundated with new strong golfers who were body builders and Hollywood stuntmen in their spare time. Maybe the old net wasn't strong enough to stand up to golf balls delivered by such power house players.
Maybe these new guys would become champion golfers someday if they learned how to hit the ball straight but in the meantime what to do? Why this problem went on until the neighbors had to take it to court is a mystery.
Maybe someday these new, young strong golfers who hit the ball at a zillion miles per hour will become world champions if they learn to keep their balls where they belong. But in the mean time the club needs to install new and better netting. They should investigate the various options and see what sort of net they will need to meet their exact specifications.
Net manufacturers make an amazing variety of nets for every imaginable purpose. Cargo nets are strong but the holes are big and would let golf balls through. Mosquito nets have nice small holes but they probably aren't strong enough to stop golf balls. If you want to keep golf balls from being hit into the neighbors' yards get golf netting. You and your neighbors will be glad you did.
