Facts about ADHD
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder ( ADHD ) is a condition thought to be caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain that effect the parts controlling attention, concentration and impulsivity. This means a child's behaviour can be anything from being "very dreamy" ( or unable to pay attention) through to being "always on the go" ( or hyperactive).
ADHD may begin in early childhood and can continue into adulthood. The exact cause is not clear but ADHD tends to run in families. Without treatment, ADHD can cause problems at home, school, work and with relationships. ADHD is often diagnosed when a child is between 6 and 12 years old.
So please help your child overcome or adapt his symptoms so he can develop the skills for succes in life.
