Backlinks are one-way links leading to your site. The more backlinks to your site, the higher your ranking in the SEs.

There are lots of ways to get backlinks. The best backlinks are from authority sites like Article Directories, popular social bookmarking sites, popular forums, etc. The SE robots love sites with constantly changing content. That means your link will be found within days.
