We all hear the gurus and heavy hitters crying Join my team! I create massive spill-over! Let us really look at it and sort the facts from the myths

Ok Lets say I join a program, any program and for the purpose of this exercise lets make it is a 5X? forced matrix. And that I am a super-affiliate who sponsors without effort. (I wish).

My first 5 personally sponsored members are placed on my level 1. Now everyone I sponsor has to be placed downline, I can not be selfish and keep placing them on level 1 because of the forced matrix so I have no option other than to help my team members build, my efforts are now creating spill-over and you being one of these 5 will benefit enormously. Sounds really great doesnt it? This is as far as the super affilates want you to think this one through. But lets examine it a little further

OK so you lucked out and you got a level 1 position you are in a great position you are one of the very lucky 5 that I will and must help first.

Now what really happens next? What can you really expect?

You and 4 others are on this level. To help all of you I help fill each of your 5 level 1 positions as this is my level 2. To help all 5 of you under the assumption that you are all waiting on spill-over to build your downlines and therefore income for you I now need to sponsor another 25. So in reality the most you can expect from me is to receive 20% of my personal efforts. Still sounding good?

Right, now assuming you did not luck out quite as well as those who landed on my level 1, (these are usually reserved for close personal friends of the gurus anyway and are mostly gone before you even know the program exists) your position is instead on my level 2 you are one of the 25 on this level. To help you guys build a downline and an income I need to sponsor a further 125 members just to give each of you 5 on your front line. Now you are only receiving 4% of my personal efforts. Sounding a bit lame now isnt it?

You sitting by waiting for a downline to be built for you and only getting 4% of the people I bring in. How long do you think you are going to need to wait for a really decent income to come from this?

What if you are actually on my level 3 or 4 you are getting far less than 1% of my personally sponsored members being placed under you.

Now do not get me wrong spill-over does work and if you have a strong enough upline and are patient enough to wait long enough - eventually you will earn something but I can assure you it will not be as much as you hoped for.

So here is my take on the spill-over myth.

1. Do not join a program just for spill-over because it could be a long time in coming

2. Never join a program unless you can see some direct value to you whilst you wait for it to build. That is you love and/or will use whatever it is they are selling or are very comfortable recommending it to others.

3. Check out your proposed sponsor, just because they can sponsor well and are proclaimed as an industry leader does not mean they will be of direct value to you.

If they can personally sponsor say 500 people how much time will they in reality be able to spend with you? See if they will take the time to chat about other subjects or just RAM the program details down your throat. Are they really interested in you as a person or a statistic to help them on their way to the top?

4. If you want an income from a program do some of the work yourself do not solely rely on others to do it for you. Take charge of your own destiny and be pro-active. People cannot join you if they have no idea you are doing anything and if you are excited about it you will attract others who are too. If you work with them and show an interest in them they will want to help out more.

5. Get your link out. Make your own splash page get it up on free sites (If you do not know how then ask, you are in the right place for endless advice. There are plenty of skilled people here who can tell you how and where to access these free resources, some will even teach you how to use them).

6. Send emails to friends, colleagues and those who send their ops to you, talk about what you are doing in forums, on chat sites, add your link to your instant messenger (they all have a personal message box)

In short you can either sit back and wait for someone else to improve your fortunes and then complain when it takes too long or get your feet wet and do some of it yourself. You actually earn from 100% of the efforts of anyone under you so what is better earning from 20% or 4% or less of your uplines efforts or 100% of your own and your downlines?
