Image Taking care of home first could be quite the challenge for many Americans right now, but it is important to maintain during hard times the best way you can. You may be surprised at the things that could be done that could prevent costly repairs to your home later.

Prevention is better than cure so here are a few quick tips you can apply to your own home. Just remember, whenever possible have a professional service your home to maintain the quality that will be crucial when you want to sell or refinance.

Pressure clean your home at least once a year.  The advantages of pressure cleaning is first and foremost, it helps maintain your paint job longer. It also exposes minor damage that should be addressed early, like a toothache, getting a filling versus a root canal.  And it keeps your home looking fresh year after year and helps maintain property values in your community.

Clean the gutters twice a year.  When gutters get clogged, it causes water to settle when it should be gone.  This water causes wood to rot unnecessarily. This could lead to very costly repairs later.

Finally, Paint your home, inside out with "resale"  value or "refinance" value in mind.  I have been into many homes which were excellent except for the home owners paint jobs.  It's more than just picking a color and applying it to the wall.  Your desire for a more colorful look maybe achieved without painting your house with different colors in each room.
