How to succeed online!

Did you start out and did not know what to do after joining a affiliate program? Did your sponsor help you? Did you get the information of how to succeed, but it didn't get you anywhere?
I have as many other failed bad everytime, but from every fail i got experience. So what do you have to do to succeed?
Some backside story:
I joined a program before Christmas and there i got a sponsor with experience. My sponsor used 7 years to be successful and from there he start earning big. I contacted my sponsor for tips and guide to what to do. I got my answer and it was simple: Start joining every free traffic  exchanges, lists and community out there to reach as many people you can every day. And i have start doing it and it pays of. It's time consuming and hard work, but you will get result.
I have my list out there, and i recomend you do the same. Because you can get lost of all the programs you joined. I did and thats whye i launched a website to keep track, i still find program that i have joined in the past :)
