Mums Working At Home Online Tips

by Native

Kia Ora people!

I'm a Native Maori sista here in Aotearoa New Zealand. I decided some years ago to put post-graduate tertiary studies to the side and stay at home, raise my family instead and be mummy.  My whanau (family) and I love travelling together, meeting people, and learning new things. Now that the children are older I've made another decision to STILL stay at home!  and work online.   Anywayz, here are things I've learnt (in no particular order) in my journeys of working online at home.

1) You do need a plan of some sort to help guide you through your journey of making extra income or starting up an online business.  At least have a pen and paper next to you when your working online to take notes and stuff.

2) You need to be or learn to become a savvy researcher.  Research - (which is doing your homework) will lessen the risks of you being scammed.   If you come across some money making opportunity - research it and see what people have experienced from it.

3) In most cases You need to spend money to make money!  Yep ya do!  e.g: phone & internet connection first of all!  then if your not computer and internet savvy and are not sure how to set yourself up for good business then you can pay online for some good start up kits, or pay for a data base of " paid  surveys" and hope they pay off!  Because honestly - during my online research, some people claim to have been paid out but its not that much.  Spending money online means getting yourself a credit or debit card.  Remember business is a risk takers game!  Take risks, spend money online to buy your own website or domain or wateva you need to market yourself.

4)  Be persistant and review your milestones often.  Keeping track of where you've been online and offline.

5)  It takes some time-ideally you would like to have cash flowing in by the each of each day and/0r week. And just know that in real life! there will be a lot of dead ends.  Just be strong on soldier on.

6) Networking and making yourself be known.  Socialising on networks.  Letting people know what your services or products are.  Because when it comes down to business, I've learnt that its all about providing people with good to excellent services and/or products.  Get people interested in you or your business.  And making the client, customer, consumer on the other end feel good, happy and pleased.   And excuse me, I'm shy! how do I do that!  Just learn!

7)  Learn how to be resourceful with what you already have, and what ever you have access to.

8) You must probably will have you hand in a number of projects/ money making business ventures.  This is called Project Mangagement and Multitasking.

9) Its good to be Original, Fresh, Hip, Up to the know how of things popular.

10) Another thing I saw was Audio Ads.  People advesrtising or marketing themselves or their businesses on Audio Ads - checkout YouTube and the like.

11)  Be yourself online - in your services when talking with people, when blogging etc.  Just use your everyday lingo.  It's more real and inviting.

12) And there most times you need to be a fast thinker, quick talker and able to answer questions

13) You are thinking more than usual exercising your brain and mind. Watch out for burn-out!.  I was online so long I mentally and physically burnt out.  I had to remind myself to get off the computer and get outside and breathe some air.  When I startes to pursue extra income and business my mind is always thinking.  On the go.  Again I remind myself - Balance and Moderation.   Family time, Working on the computer time,  Relax time.

Some Extra Income Ideas

Sell products/ items/ things around your home/ on eBay.  People Buy. Paid.

Sell homes for people.   Just ask people wanting or trying to sell their homes if they want you to try and sell it for them on eBay or Trade Me and charge a persentage of the sale of the house for example.  People Buy. Paid

Sell information online - get paid everytime people click into your site. People click. Paid

Oh yeah and another thing,  I've noticed is  that good, honest decent businesses and people are successful if they are PASSIONATE about wateva they're doing.

Thats me for now, catch y'all up another time.  So peace out!    Mauri Ora!
