Useful Trash
There I was down on my hands and knees, once again ,looking inside a cabinet for just the right size bowl to put leftovers from dinner in so I could put them in the fridge. And wouldn't you know it, the one I needed was way back in the cabinet just barely within reach.
So I grasp it and started backing out.
Then it dawned on me that now I had to find the lid that fit this bowl. I sat down on the floor in front of the cabinet tired and exasperated. I was feeling a bit ticked off at myself for not being as organized as I should. So I made a promise to myself to do something about this mess.
Once again I am digging around inside the cabinet. The minutes are ticking by...I didn't realize there were so many lids to go through, but I kept on looking.
About 10 minutes later I have found the lid, washed it and the bowl, put the food in and away in the fridge. Now I was ready to go to work on this mess in the cabinet.
I took out everything and started dividing the bowls into 3 stacks , largest, mediums and the smallest. Everything was going along fine until I picked up one of the lids. Now just how am I going to put these in order?
While standing there thinking I caught a glimpse of my son quietly carrying out the box of trash
that had been sitting in the living room for hours waiting for him to put out.
That's when the light came on over my head....you know, the light bulb you see in the funnies when someone gets a bright idea? I called after him and of course he thought I was going to say something about him being so late about carrying this box out to the trash. He looked a little surprised when he saw the smile on my face.
I opened the box and there it was just what I needed...A CD holder!
Yes, a CD holder, the old kind that only holds about 8 to 10 CD's.
Well now it was going to do a different job, hold my lids. I went back to the kitchen and washed the CD holder and then I placed the large lids in the slots at the back and worked down to the smallest in front.
I really feel good that I now have the best organized cabinet that I know of. And my friends who come over have all marveled at how neat I keep my bowls and lids. Now you know why I call this "Useful Trash"
Hey,....don't throw that away. I bet there is another use for it, just give me time for my light to come on over my head and we'll know what it can be used for!
