There is a time to play and a time to not........
Friday October 26, 2007
Well, here lately I have been posting rather nothing 'informational' but rather funny and humorous posts. Some of you may think that I am 'abusing' my blogs here on Apsense. But rather I am making a point. Don't get me wrong. I am so very glad that I can make people smile and laugh, and show someone a good time. I love to laugh and help others do the same!
I really and truly do not care if my posts get topped. But honestly there are so many that I wish would get 'read'.
Sitting here watching and reading the news around us. It is right there in front of everyone's faces! Being on the internet is such a very scary scary place! I know many want to just avoid reading it because we think 'oh it won't happen to me'.
But statistics say that it will! Don't you understand?
Identity theft and cyber crime are on such an epidemic level that unless everyone pulls together, what will become of our internet...and what could happen to you?
Let me put into a scenario.
You receive a knock at the door....(imagine its me)
KNOCK KNOCK
(you answer the door and it is me)
Hi there! "My name is Jennifer. I am just walking around the neighborhood offering some very valuable coupons that could save you on everything you can possibly buy for your entire life!" And I show you the huge catalog....you look through and see exactly what I am talking about.
*Ok let me stop there. I am by the way a very charming, 'attractive'...one to just open your door to type of person. *(and by the way you would be right...but again this is just scenario)
So! You agree with me that this catalog WILL save you tons of money. So A. You offer for me to come inside. Or B. You still stand outside with me. Either way, it really doesn't matter BECAUSE
I tell you that you are offered this catalog for free! Absolutely FREE! Just because I like you! Well, of course you are going to take it! (Right?) Well before I hand this to you......there is one thing...
(most times there is ALWAYS a catch) So, I tell you...
In order for me to continue to give you these lifetime coupons I will have to place cameras in every part of your house. To keep up with all your purchases and make sure we are giving you the right valuable coupons.
SLAM!
I could just imagine what you would say, or do to me!
Folks. This is the best way that I can describe what you are allowing every day that you are on the internet! And you CHOSE not to let me in. But that does not happen in the cyber/identity theft world!
You could allow, invite, talking....or even just going to website someone that is only gathering the information that they need to get you!
Well the only difference with me and my coming to your house....I told you what I was going to do!
Do you think for one minute that these cyber/identity theft criminals are even going to let you know they are attacking you? ABSOLUTELY NOT!
What is so bad a majority of you are under attack RIGHT now just because you thought you were being helped....when in reality you are just their puppet on a string.
Scary? YES you need to be scared!
Well, maybe you are thinking well 'it really doesn't matter any way because no one can stop cyber crime'
And you are right to a point. No one can stop those that do not have the programs to stop them!
And trust me guys, if 'off the shelf programs' and 'free programs' worked we would not be in this pandemic any way!
I am not saying you HAVE to sign up for my service is the only answer. No, there are great programs out there. But the thing about it is you have to be out there daily making sure which ones are!
Ok, you run and update your programs daily. You do this, and you do that. But one day you receive a knock at the door. And it is the FBI coming in to seize your computer. Put you in hand cuffs and carry you or a loved one away for storing child pornography pictures on your computer!! Just to find out later that it was a hacker that stored them on your pc. And find out the hard way 'your reliable protection was not doing what it promised'!
Hackers are not only stealing identities. They are storing their illegal crimes on innocent peoples computers to keep them in the clear!
Have a web cam? Well, guess what....you may be on candid camera! (or not so candid I might add)
Folks....all I ask is DON'T be gullible! Really ask yourself what you and your families lives are worth. Internet security will be the next utility bill. Mark my word! Just make sure...and know that you know...that your family is protected. Fully managed internet security is the answer! You have to be a professional to keep your computers safe! So if you are a professional...than disregard this whole message.
Because if not....
What then?
And this is just the beginning......

Thank you Joseph! Yes, it is very very scary! If you actually read the stories about how innocent victims have been arrested for crimes they haven't committed. Or to sit and think that someone is watching you if you have a web cam. Or if someone is in your computer...taking all of your information.....it is very very scary!!

Working on one project at a time.
Very good points and articles you have shared with us, to be honest with you it really has a scary though to think someone could hide things in your pc without you even know it was even there.......
Interesting but very true and scary...................................

Thank you Lisa. Lol. I am quite knowledgeable because honestly the media has educated me! I myself 'thought' I was protected, and you or no one could tell me other wise. *Until the day I found out for myself and found over 800 predators on my pc*!
And from learning from my experiences, my friends, subscribers, business partners...I learn something new every day! And not to mention what my company has educated me on!
I would love to become involved in your different communities! Again, I

I have had many unbelievable instances of finding people's personal information laying aorund just waiting to be grabbed by some misceant mal-content or ambitious scam peddler....
Jenn, people are so careless in the physical world, that it's not a wonder to me that they are some blinded to the dangers of the Virtual World---
My friend- ppl_cheryl63 is starting a Newletter on this very same subject and she looking for great content like this blog and you other blogs on this very same su

Hi Jen,
I topped your article yesterday because it is so so true. I am only commenting today because even though I am protected through various means I needed to check myself.
Fortunately I am okay after using your free INVISUS Spyware Scanner. I had one threat which was low and it is also something I use to help my daughter with her pc.
Keep up the great work you are doing for the onlne community.

Thank you Jennifer.
I just did a scan using your INVISUS Spyware Scanner and it only found one low level threat. Thank goodness.
I possibly should have done your scan after I'd scanned with all my own usual programs.
I was pleased though, particularly with the amount of internet usage my computer gets.
I can see at Invisus offers many other services too, that I'm certain other members at Apsense may want to use.

Thanks G! All I know folks, is I was the gullible one at one time. I was told and believed at this time that I was safe from the online predators...only to find out I had over 800 of them on my pc!!! (and my security was telling me that I was clean)! And my children were using my pc during this!
Again, I am not a professional, and I especially don't have the time to figure out how to be one.
Not Here8
just want my account deleted
This is Absolutely a very serious issue to anyone online, if you think it isn't you might as well just turn the computer off right now, and maybe think about different ways to make money. Meanwhile, the cyber world will continue to grow and with it the "rotten" apples that would rather wreak havoc than reconize the internet for it's true potential. Evil is something that needs to be addressed always in life, and online it is no different. Real people working TOGETHER have the power to address

Thank you! I appreciate your input on this topic, and you are so very right on having to stay on top of things! I don't have the time, especially when major corporations are having to spend billions on internet protection to stay on top of it!
You are welcome about the humor....look for more ;0)

Great Stuff NoMoreHackers!
I agree, it is SOOO easy to pull info right off someone's computer while they are browsing a website. There are scripts (Javascript and PHP) that will read your computer profile while you are visiting a site and even sign you up to a mailing list without you knowing anything about it! While this is considered BlackHat at the very least, it is also illegal in most countries!
There are plenty of good security systems out there and I use a couple layers of them on both
