How to get traffic??How??Why??

Well i used to place my links in these traffic generating sites.So this is my first answer for the  first question in the title :-).

And one of these sites i used to earn credits and hits is Helphits.But thinking deeply, is that a real way to get new referrals or to get traffic, or get buyers for your business.
I don't know i am not really sure.Maybe anyone can give any opinion.

So any one can tell me or give his opinion if is it a successful way to get what i mentioned above, but i don't want any answer just to get a new referral{me}.

I would wonder how can anyone generate so much network like 1000 network.
Any ideas or comments.
