Give and it shall be given back to you!
Give and it shall be given back to you good measure, pressed down and running over shall men give unto you!
Giving is an important part of doing business! In my business we call it sampling. By giving free or low cost samples to my prospective clients and associates I'm building confidence and trust. I'm also promoting good will.
Another Biblical example of this is the principle of sowing and reaping. There is the old addage "it takes money to make money". Well, to some degree it does. But this outlay or business expense is actually a seed in the ground of your business! A seed is much smaller than what comes from that seed. Imagine the weight of one beefsteak tomato seed. Next to nothing! But if planted in good soil, in good conditions and under the watchful eye of the planter it will yield several pounds of fruit.
So then sampling or giving something away for free or at low cost is a great way to build a strong customer/client base. These expenses are tax deductible so keep good records! Also, as we saw from the seed parable, make sure that the business or opportunity you're involved with is a good one! Does it solve a problem? Meet a need? Give necessary information or skills? Make sure that the market conditions are right for your product or service. This would not be the time to open a typewriter shop to sell and repair typewriters! And, perhaps most importantly, watch over that seed! Make good investments into your business and clients and watch over them. Follow up in a timely fashion. Do surveys to get a feel for your product/service and how people feel and use it.
Hopefully your product/service is so good that put in the hand of the right prospect it will sell itself! They will wonder how they got along without it. So Sample, sample, sample. Let them try it and come back to buy it. A product/service is better bought than sold!
