I used to work as a Health Promotion Manager for the British National Health Service. This was a high-powered and well paid position but in 1994 my whole world came crashing around me. From being very fit, hardly ever ill, I discovered I had an incurable, progressive neuro-muscular condition: Myasthenia Gravis (MG).
Myasthenia Gravis causes damage at the neuro-muscular junction giving rise to fluctuating weaknesses in muscles. Symptoms can range from inability to walk unaided to swallowing, chewing difficulties etc. Although I can walk quite well, my balance is often affected by double vision. The upshot of all this was having to retire from my highly lucrative and enjoyable career. Although I had a pension, I became depressed at the thought of being useless but slowly I came through it and accepted my illness. I started writing using all my previous experience in the health service: I had been a stress counsellor and had developed many courses around self-development etc.
Later I built my own website to promote my writing and display my published articles. But it's a tough profession with very little money unless you can attract the attention of the mainline magazines. So I looked around for something I could do on the net. This meant I didn't need to worry about being debilitated by my illness, I could just sit at my computer without anyone seeing me! It took me almost a year but I've finally found the way I can supplement my pension and become a useful member of society again. I joined a site called www.marketingpond.com/ref.cgi/2475]Marketing Pond.
Marketing Pond has been my saviour. I have started to make money at long last and I have had a lot of referrals with no difficulty at all. Marketing Pond contains a series of different programs that you can join. Some are PTC others are Traffic Exchanges or Social Networking Sites. The main ingredient is that they are FREE!! and they PAY YOU to do fun things. I have been waiting ages to get referrals into Agloco and Take The Internet Back. I had them within 4 weeks of joining the Pond.
If you are stuck at home a lot like me through fluctuating illness but still want to do something, I urge you to join me in Marketing Pond. Keep up the good work! It is great that you have found something that works for you!
I hate to hear about your medical condition. I am home too because of a medical condition, but it has been a blessing in disguise for me. I have actually had some great quality time with my children and earning an income without being gone ALL THE TIME!
I look forward to reading some of your articles here on Apsense!
