What is Alphabet? Alphabet is mostly a collection of companies. The largest of which, of course, is Google. This newer Google is a bit slimmed down, with the companies that are pretty far afield of our main internet products contained in Alphabet instead. What do we mean by far afield? Good examples are our health efforts: Life Sciences (that works on the glucose-sensing contact lens), and Calico (focused on longevity). Fundamentally, we believe this allows us more management scale, as we can run things independently that aren’t much related.

2. He studied at GRT Mahalaksmi Vidyalaya and Vanavani Matriculation Higher Secondary School which is situated inside the campus of IIT Chennai.
3. He completed Bachelors Degree in Engineering from IIT Kharagpur.
4. He completed his Master in Science from Stanford University and then he did his MBA from the Wharton School of The University of Pennsylvania.
5. He joined Google in 2004.
6. After Satya Nadella, Pichai happens to be the second Indian who has made such a huge mark in Google.
7. Pichai, 43, was named chief executive officer of the Internet titan Monday, as Google revealed a new corporate structure creating a company named Alphabet.
8. Pichai was one of the members of the team that launched the Chrome browser in 2008 and also worked on various search products, including Google Toolbar, Desktop Search, Gadgets and Google Gears, according to the company.
9. US media described him as soft-spoken, little-known, and a long-time right-hand man to mentor Page.
10. Pichai demonstrated his team devotion while working under Marissa Mayer, who then was a key executive at Google.
