1 dollar was equal to 1 dollar in 1947? Learn the truth of this claim
by Banty Sharma News Suk - See Here latest Trending Topic, Tech Ne(Hindi Me Health): When
the current Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in the opposition, he had a tweet.
He claimed in this tweet that at the time of Independence, ie August 15, 1947,
1 rupee was equivalent to 1 rupee.
In July 2013, as a BJP leader, PM Narendra Modi tweeted
this. Once again, a fall in rupee has started. Today the rupee has again
reached the level of 69 rupees against the dollar. In such a case, once again,
the claim of 1
rupee 1 dollar is being discussed. But was it really so?
At first there is no data to confirm this claim. Secondly,
from the time of independence to the year 1966, the value of the Indian rupee
was not valued as compared to the British pound.
On behalf of the Center for Civil Society, a paper has been
prepared on the devaluation of the currency (reducing the value of currency).
According to this paper, the British currency was divalued in 1949. After this,
in 1966, the value of Indian currency i.e. rupee was pegged against US dollar.
In the meantime, after the devaluation, the rupee had reached level of 7.50
against the dollar.
1 rupee was equal to 1 rupee in 1947. It is not possible to
believe this claim because when India became independent in 1947, it did not
take any loans from other countries. The trade was also not equal. In such a
case, it is not enough that one rupee is equal to 1 dollar.
Thirdly, which proves this claim to be false. That is,
India's growth rate was 0.8 percent in 1947. In such a situation, it is not
possible to keep the Indian rupee equivalent to the dollar.
