Conversion and Decoding

The bar scanner’s software converts the electrical signal into digital data, turning it into a series of ones and zeroes that computers can decode.With the data now in digital form, the software decodes it, interprets the digital representation of the barcode, and deciphers the encoded information within.

It identifies the unique pattern of bars and spaces, matches it against known barcode formats like UPC or QR codes, and extracts the relevant data embedded in the barcode. The decoded information often includes product identification numbers, prices, and other relevant data essential for inventory management, pricing, and transaction processes.

Output

Once the barcode scanning process is complete and the data is decoded, it will be transmitted to another device for further use. This step is called output, where the decoded data is sent to a connected device such as a computer or a POS (Point of Sale) system. It essentially shares information gathered from scanning with another system that can put it to practical use.

For example, in retail settings, the decoded data may be used to manage inventory, update stock levels, or track product movement.
