power books, and reviews
by Jamille Inosanto The Catcher in the Rye(J.D. Salinger)-the story goes about Holden as cynical in its original sense which, it could be argued, makes him innocent. Innocence has two clear meanings, one of which is naivety and the other is moral purity, Holden is quite knowledgeable about things that concern him; mainly school but seems out of his depth and naive in New York City. He seems to question everything presented to him in a cynical manner and he is not 'morally pure 'admitting that he is the 'world ' s biggest pervert in my head '. He is immediately cynical at the opening of the novel, saying 'the first thing you ' ll probably want to know is where I was born, and what my lousy childhood was like. he went through hard circumstances and as he travels as he went away from school there he discovered something that is related to the title. this book needs a very deep understanding...The Alchemist(Paulo Coelho)-all goes smoothly in a life of a shepherd. the shepherd happens to have visions in his dream and in the story he started to pursue his dreams. there are a lot of twist and good lessons. it is more about an adventure together with dream and hardships.
By the River Piedra I Sat Down And Wept(paulo coelho)-this book is about a love story. not like some over there it is about choosing between love or service for the lord. it started with the story teller saying where she was and whom she met and was close with before now started sends a message asking her to see him...and there the story about them starts.
Twilight(stephenie meyer)-a very distinct love story between a human and a vampire. in here they encounter hardships about their relationship and "them" on their own.
The God of Small things(Arundhati Roy)
The Eleven Minutes(Paulo Coelho)
The Little Prince(Antoine de Saint Exupéry)
The Five People You Meet in Heaven(Mitch Albom)
