I m not entirely sure what you mean by "if your site goes to spam".
If its a blog and you are having issues with spammers, there are many plugins to stop that - I have a ton of recommendations just ask.
If rather you run a forum and are haunted by spammers, look into stopforumspam.com They offer mods and plugins that will work with your forum software and the stopforumspam website to block known spammers and spammer IP addresses. Then its just a matter of having good moderators.
If this is a problem where affiliates are spamming your links, make sure you have an abuse department setup, and seriously look into all reports and drop repeat offenders.
