I run a ecommerce site for perfumes. With over 150 fragrance my descriptions, although different, are similar,and I believe I am being hit through duplication. Is there any way to combat this?

If you have been hit by a duplicate content penalty google will tell you this.
Please do a search on google for "google-webmaster-tools-provides-details-on-duplicate-content" and read the first article listed.
If you google is telling you that you have duplicate content, let me know the specific details they tell you.
If this is not the case, there are other reasons you may be losing rankings. We can go over that after you check things and get back to me.
