Traffic exchanges - splashes and page content

I just joined the group. I am a traffic exchange owner myself. Traffic exchanges produce the best results via repetition. People see your site on them 1 time and they surf on past, 2 times and they keep surfing, more than 2 and they might take a look. There are some secrets to advertising on traffic exchanges which could make the difference between success and shortcoming.

- Know your intent. You want to inspire interest from your advertising - enough for a traffic exchanger to click something or request more information.
- Know your traffic exchanger - traffic exchangers surf for credits. They are not interested in the sites as much as they are in earning credits. They prefer to make a click and then come back later to research a site in more detail. They are traffic exchanging for some reason, and that reason is usually to make money, find additional website advertising resources, or find something unique. What does your site offer?
- Keep it short. Splash pages that contain direct info work best. Remember that you are only trying to get their attention enough to click your splash page.
- Keep it simple. Traffic exchangers will only read less than 25 words. Be selective about what words to use.
- Make it interesting. Use colors, animations, rather than descriptions.
- Open in a new window. When a user clicks your splash page, your site (with all the information) should open in a new browser window.
- Brand yourself - put your name on your site and your picture also. You want users to recognize you.

Here is an example of a splash page that recently won splash page of the week at the Hit Exchange Network. It is for my traffic exchange.

Kinda grabs your attention and makes you wonder which traffic exchange it is talking about. Did you click to find out? Many people do.

Hi Bill,

Great information you posted. I went to check out your site. I think you may be onto something there.

Where do you recommend getting splash pages made for the members that may not have expertise in such matters. I know of several "make your own" sites but have not found one that I liked well enough to pay for.

I wish you much success and recommend all our members go check out freetrafficlotto.com for them selves.

Bill,

I almost forgot the most important part, my referral url. If anybody else is interested in a free account at Bills' traffic exchange copy and paste http://www.freetrafficlotto.com/?ref=businessmaninboots into your browser and enter.

Like I said below I think he has something going here you may want to take a look at.

Thanks for the plug. FTL is growing so fast and is showing no signs of slowing down. It is unique in that it make traffic exchanging interesting with the free lotto ticket every pages that has a good chance at winning something (match 2 or more number out of 6 and you win).

As for splash page creation, I recommend paying someone $25 to $35 to do one for you. The "make your own splashes" might offer a little, but having your own customized splash made by a professional is much better. Here is one that I made myself (http://4steps.bills-team.com/crystal.php) which I designed from [url]http://flashberry.com[\url]. Flashberry is a free site. 4 STEPS (the site being promoted on the above splash page) is for another website that I own.

Believe me, paying someone to design a splash for you is worth every penny, but you need to be very careful about who you pick. There are some sorry splash page makers that have made a name for themselves. Word of mouth from someone you trust and specific examples of his/her work are the best ways to find your splashpage maker. When you find a good one, stick with him. If you PM me, I will be glad to give you the name and email of the guy who designed the headscratcher splash. He does not officially do the splash page creation business, but may take a job or 2. Anyone else that wants his name and is willing to pay $30 or $35 for his work, join my contact list and shoot me an email message. I will email the guy and ask if he wants the business right now. He specializes in splashes with real people in them.
