I've been reading a lot about alternative forms of energy for a while now. Solar cell technology and Wind power are most interesting to me. One thing I've been trying to find is a formula or software program that will help me determine how long it will take to recover my initial investment and when I will start seeing a savings. For example if I install solar panels on my house, how many years will it take before the energy savings will pay for the cost?

LOL....tooo long.....solar panels do not offer a reasonable payback time like in 3 to 5 years. I have a feeling Cold Fusion will outpace solar in a big way in the next couple of years. Read about Carlo Rossi and his invention here http://peswiki.com/index.php/Main_Page Also many other technologies are developing fast.
