Use Your Name In The Subject Line

Just yesterday Mohann Krish mentioned to me and Philippe Moisan that, when sending out an email through safelists you always should write your name into the subject.
Well, coming from Mohann Krish, I had to give it a try.
So yesterday evening I chose a program I did advertise through safelists before. I guess I sent it out to roughly 50,000 people. The return: 12 sign-ups. That's a success rate of measly 0.024%! At that time I decided to wait a few weeks, rewrite the email and try it again.
But yesterday evening I changed my mind and decided to use the same email with the same subject line but with my name added to it and to send it out through a safelist.
For this I used a smaller safelist (~1700 members) and send out an email for a program I've with my name in the subject line to 1000 members.
About 30 minutes ago I checked my email and honestly I couldn't believe what I saw. I had 7 sign-up messages for above mentioned program in my inbox! And that over a period of 16 hours!
Just before I went to check my tracking list: 587 hits!
That's means almost 60% of the person who received my email with my name in the subject line didn't just delete that email. No, they clicked the link to watch my add and at the same time to reap off some credits. Or maybe it was the other way around :)
Anyhow, fact is that out of these 587 "clickers" 7 went on to sign-up. That's 0.7% of all emails sent out and 1.2% of the "clickers"! That's a 29-fold success rate increase compared to a few weeks ago!
That's another step on my way to success!
Btw, on June 08, 2011 I wrote an article on how to choose a safelist and on how to use them for email marketing. I guess I will have to add the point of using your name in the subject line.
UPDATE: About 24 hrs have past since I posted that emal. A total of 639 people opened my email and clicked on the link. That's a click rate of 64%! Never saw that before! And all because of one little change in the subject line!
Oh... btw. no new sign-ups!

Web IlliterateThanks Philippe. Maybe the fact, that it's Sunday might have helped too. And as I said, with smaller safelists you have more success, because everybody needs the points. And when receiving 20 mails only and not 200 the chance that your mail will be opened is by far bigger! Anyhow, Mohann was right! I won't use this method for everything, but for some special programs and mainly for product marketing. Feel free to write about your success steps! That's what this group shall be for.
