After all the changes with Google and the panda updates people are saying article marketing isn't as effective as it used to be. Do you think that is true?Are you still getting traffic from article marketing?

It's a good topic you have raised, Diane. Most of the net has been corrupted with 'How-to' articles from every nook and corner with similar content. I strongly believe content has to come from good articles only. One has to get over this keyword syndrome and focus on trustworthy knowledge of subjects and article writing would survive.

The thing is, where is it still effective to publish articles to get traffic and be seen on search engines ?

You're right, Phil. Articles won't get you traffic per se. That's true even if we spin, scatter and spread all across the net in 400+ ezines. But a properly SEO-ed article can get you traffic only to the articles. Then again unless there is some suspense created in the resource box, people don't click to be taken to the website.

so if they can't get you traffic and people are not clicking the link there is no point to them then apart from maybe for the link, hopefully the link counts for something

Diane, if people don't click the link, it might be just a question of writing a more compelling article. Our IM world is often a question of testing and tweaking.
