IndiGo Airlines to add 14 more planes in next fiscal

Low-cost carrier IndiGo Airlines will add 14 more planes to its fleet and recruit 1,500 people under its expansion plan for the next financial year.




"In the next financial year, we are going to add 14 planes to our fleet, taking their number to 53," IndiGo Chief Commercial Officer Sanjay Kumar told PTI today. The private airline plans to add a workforce of 1,500 employees in 2011-12, he said.

Kumar said by adding new flights IndiGo was planning to connect south-east Asia and West Asia. This project will be put in place between August and September. Kumar said their initial plan was to run flight services from metros - Delhi and Mumbai to Dubai, Muscat, Singapore, Bangkok and Kathmandu.

He said Indore was their 26th destination from where they have started their operations IndiGo today announced starting of four direct flights from Indore to Delhi, Bangalore, Srinagar and Nagpur from April 2. After this, the number of IndiGo's domestic flights will go up to 253, Kumar added.
