Why Private Videos?

Are you aware that YouTube lets you make your videos private with a tick box in the upload process? You may wonder why anyone would want to do that, right?
I belong to a website that furnishes us with a hosted splash page to get referrals with and one of the benefits for getting a few, is they open up a bonus page with a way to use your own video in place of the stock one for better branding.
So I made a free video with Windows Movie Maker and some images and music I found online, then posted it on YouTube for free. It doesn't really make sense without the splash page, so I made it private and used the share link to add it to my own splash page.
I like free, don't you?
