When you have your website being designed, what do you think are the most essential factors?

They said - "Content Is King". Really? I have my doubts!

Gone are the days when the clients or visitors were spending hours reading the tons of text written on your website for knowing about your product or services.

Today's visitors are busy and real busy. They do not have any time to spend on Internet reading those texts no matter how valuable that is to you or your business.

Even those who might be interested, may not be using the traditional Computer or PC or Laptop for viewing your website - the Gadgets like the Next-Gen Cell Phones, BlackBerrys. Ipods and so many other smaller devices make reading so very tough and eye straining.

So How to get them attracted and show off what you have for them?

Here are a few tips that I have found during my small time experience with website development

1. Use colors - Please keep the site professional in terms of colors and try to use a maximum of 3-4 colors only when you are planning a new website

2. Use Fonts - Use a variety of fonts and sizes but stick to the basic or the core web-related fonts. Different Systems and Users have different preferences and settings, so try to be generic and plan something that would allow the visitor to feel comfortable.

3. Use Images - They say that an Image is better and much more than a 1000 or more words. Yes, that is true. Images tend to remain in memory longer and so you should package your product based on this adage. They should be eye-catching and worth a look.

4. Use Feedback - Always have a page on the website where the visitor can leave a feedback. It is preferable to have a snippet in the right or the left navigation panel which would allow the user to input the feedback. Quick, Simple and Easy access.

5. Conduct Polls - If you have many visitors coming to your website, start conducting quick polls to ascertain the preferences of your visitors. Remember - Visitor would prefer to click more often than to type in those long comments or fill up those boring forms.

In the next part I would try to input some more info on the Presentation. If you liked this post, please top it so that it would be a pat on my back and I would be motivated to do more...

Cheers,
