The FedEx Syndrome

Do we love our friends and family/spouse, or do we simply love what we GET from them?

This is a question most people have a really hard time answering!

I overheard a young woman bragging to a friend once: "....He's SO cute!"  "He's smart, has a nice car, takes me to all these cool places, and best of all.... He has a REALLY GOOD JOB!"

My stomach turned over when I heard this, because I have been the victim of the 'FedEx Syndrome' a time or two myself.  The one whom you think loves you REALLY just loves what you DO for them!  In other words, the 'package' you bring them!

The way it feels, the nice house, the nice car, the way you help with their children, the way they feel when you take them out.... you get the picture.  Another words, what they are 'getting' from you!

I call it 'the FedEx Syndrome', because it's like waiting for the FedEx man to bring you a package.  You aren't waiting to see the FedEx man, You don't give a Damn about him, you just want the package he is bringing!

Sadly enough that accurately describes a majority of relationships in this old world.  As soon as the package fails to get delivered, most people move on to the NEXT delivery person!

Dude,

It's even more amazing that a huge numbers of folks that that it's NORMAL to look at other people in this manner... I've seen Women totally pass up relationships with good men, because 'The Package" wasn't complete... Only to go with a "Pretty" Package that concealed a 'Bad Boy Bomb"... And Men who don't give a damn about a Woman's brains, as long as the Packaging is 'All That "....

Ahhhhhhhhhhh, The Pleasures of being 55 are really starting to kick in, Buddy...! There are many, many joys of being 'Out Of The Army" and Off the Market... Just wait and see! LOL! :)
