FREDENSBORG (Kempton, 1.30) is very lightly raced but comes into Friday's handicap hurdle off the back of two seasonal warm up runs.

Carl Llewellyn's seven-year-old was slightly over-tried in those two races, culminating in a respectable effort in a Class 2 race at Sandown a month ago. He travelled strongly in the race but his chance petered out before the last. It may have been too big an ask for him, especially as he had run just a few days before. Now dropping back to a more realistic level and, having had a mini-break, he is fancied to bounce back.

GWANAKO (Kempton, 3.10) is another to take a drop back in class after a mini-break. He was really up against it in the Christmas Hurdle on Boxing Day but did at least finish in front of Acambo. The sights have been lowered and the decent, if not top class, gelding can regain the winning thread.

SPARTON DUKE (Wolverhampton, 8.50) hails from a year in blistering form and the Xaar colt can bag his second win of 2008 tonight. He is still green but after looking hard work at Kempton last time, hit the front in good style to win eased down. He looks progressive.
