BANOGE (Newcastle, 1.30) has been handling the soft going well in his short jumping career and, importantly, improving with each run.


The Flemensfirth gelding produced a decent effort first time over hurdles at Carlisle over 3m 1f and then ran a nice race dropped back in trip Ayr. The ground was bottomless two weeks ago, but he jumped well and was just caught out by the shorter distance. Today's race looks very winnable despite the large number of runners and the speed ratings indicate that, on the ground and over the trip, the six-year-old has an outstanding chance.


BAYLINI (Lingfield, 2.50) is in storming form and is well clear on the ratings for Wednesday. The filly is clearly progressive and could be anything. She recorded a fine figure here last week and the 6lb penalty is unlikely to anchor her.


SANDS CROONER (Lingfield, 3.55) was a little unlucky to find one too good at Wolverhampton last time but still put in a decent effort. He has been clocking some good times and he can upset Smokin Beau's hat-trick bid.
