You'll get the same amount of rain... just the speed at which it hits you changes...

Hi, DBSX,

If you are moving through a constant density of rain drops and then start to accelerate, you will collide with more rain drops the faster you go.

You can demostrate this very easily.

In a rain shower start your car and see how long it takes the drops to actually create streams down the windscreen - then start moving and see how long it takes before the amount of drops hitting your windscreen requires the use of the wipers for you to see clearly.

Another way to demonstrate the phenomenon is to stand in the rain with a cloth cap on your head. Wrap a similar cloth cap around a brick or other heavy object (securely!!!) and swing it around your head. After a minute or two, check to see which cap is the most wet - and it won't be the one on your head.

Have you never finished a car journey through 'pouring' rain only to find, when you stop, that it is only a slight shower?
