RECOMMENDED BETS

Racing prospects look gloomy at Ascot and although Uttoxeter are more hopeful, they don't have a great deal on offer. I do however, see one 'stand out' bet at Southwell which will be my only interest today.
Southwell 2.40pm
RESPLENDENT ALPHA
I felt it was a particularly gutsy effort posted by RESPLENDENT ALPHA over course & distance last week and having studied the times at Southwell since the re-opening, it's fair to say it was one of the best races at the track so far. He is not the best at the gates and can often lose valuable ground but it didn't stop him from running on very strongly off a fast gallop and I think the race will stand the test of time as far as a form guide is concerned. It goes without saying that I would prefer him NOT to fluff his lines at the start this afternoon but in truth, I think this is a far weaker contest and he will only need to repeat his latest performance to gain a comfortable victory.
