Two posts in one night!!!

I have just started using Skype, and I love it...

It's probably not that much different than other message services, and right now I am just using it for chat.

They also offer VOIP but i am not set up yet...

My point is, if you are using skype leave your id's here, if you are not, and are interested in faster networking among members of this group, Get It!  then leave your id here!

Nite now!  D

I had problems with the program when i first downloaded it. I think it was related to IE turning phone numbers into clickable skype links...

Will try downloading again soon andwill leave my details.

I personally use skype for my training sessions and support for five offices in three states.
I use a combination of Yugma along with it's Skype plugin to set up a conference call and share my desktop with the class.
I also have a Skype Pro account that allows me to call any phone in the US for $30 a year! This includes Cell phones and computers! Ma Bell would be rolling over in her grave at the thought!

VOIP is one of those free services that Americans love to pay for . It always bemuses me.

I was, though, impressed with the $30 a year to call cell phones. What are the add on costs for this service because it is the one thing that free VOIP does not do well? Calling mobile phones is extremely expensive (one of the great rip-offs in Europe) costing at least €0.16 per minute - even on VOIP.

Hi OC,
The $30 per year includes calling land lines, cell phones and VOIP. The added coost would be to purchase a headset or microphone for your computer. Check out the Skype Pro account when you log into your account. And for overseas or out of country calls, the rates are pretty low too!
