Joomla is a free, award-winning content management system written in PHP which allows users to easily publish their content on the world wide web and intranets. Joomla is created as an open-source project where individuals and teams contribute their skills to its development as well as its supporting systems. While Joomla is packed with features, its greatest quality is that it is extremely extensible. Because of its extensible structure, there aren't many things you cannot do with Joomla. A short list of some important features of Joomla are the following: * Page Caching * Web Indexing * RSS Feeds * Printable Page Versions * Newsflashes * Blogs * Forums * Polls * Calendars * Website Searching * Language Internationalization Nov 19th 2007 03:10 |
There are many CMS that I have used. Starting from phpnuke. Some good CMS that I have come across are WordPress, Drupal and Typo3.
Right now I am very much into Typo3 because of its distinct features.
- Page Structure resembles a tree structure (like for a directory). So, however complicated your site is, everything is still organized.
- Click and point templating system.
- Managing multiple domains from one system.
- Front-end editing for the technically challenged ;-)
- Content Versioning
- Easier management of access rights..
- etc etc..
It has its own share of disadvantages as well
- Vast GUI, takes time getting used to it.
- Before you can put up a site live, you need to know a lil of TypoScript.
