Hi Tracy,
Do you have a favorite style of music?

Hi Lynn,

thx for asking - by 'style,' of music, I assume you mean 'genre,' and I don't have an absolute favourite. I like almost everything except hip-hop and rap - because I'm still getting used to those. They're fairly 'new' genres, but I expect I will learn to like those, as well.

I like to listen to music in other languages - call me strange, but I find the vocals and varying intensities of vocals interesting, even if I can't understand the words.

How about you, Lynn? Do you prefer certain types of music over others? Or do you have a type that you listen to secretly because you think your friends wouldn't like the same? lol

Tracy,
I think that it is great to leave yourself open to many types. In answer to your question...lets just say...I was country, when country wasn't cool..LOL

Hi, Tracy,

If I was to visit your town, what would be the first thing you showed me?

Old Coot,

I would take you for a walk along the river in the downtown area and ask you what you thought we could do to help the homeless people that sometimes wander in certain areas.

I think they would be having some of the same thoughts as us while they look out across the river, listen to the gurgling water, and watch the birds swim and float along the surface of the water.

You and I could walk a little further south and go to a nice restaurant for supper, but I would want to walk back the way we'd come and bring some folk a hot coffee afterward...it's getting pretty chilly now where I'm at in Western Canada, and I always worry 'bout the people who might get stuck outside this winter.

It might be an odd outing, but at this time, it's what I would show you if you came to my area.

Maybe you, being from somewhere else, would have better ideas about how to help these people...I'd want to know what you think.

Hi, Tracy,

That sounds like a good outing.

I am very fortunate living in a country where the homeless are not so obvious and not so helpless. Where I live, the homeless people to whom I have spoken don't have such a hard time of it. The weather is kind most of the year and there is always something edible growing nearby.

Although the casual labour market has shrunk tremendously, there is always something that a willing body can do to earn enough to keep body and soul together.

It is very difficult to know how to help these people. Many of them actually choose that way of life and do not want help.

Maybe we should concentrate more on preventing more people being forced into the situation but I am afraid that without the political will and a strong social conscience, they will continue to be among us.

Spain, over the last eighteen months has seen a healthy fall in numbers of homeless people
