What Do You Do To Stay Motivated?

Working from from the comfort of our home. Sometimes it is easy to be distracted. Granted most of us work from home because we welcome those distractions :)  But, lets pretend for the sake of this discussion that you have a block of time to yourself....do you stay on task easily or do you sometimes drift?

What do you do to stay motivated? Do you have lists, tools, reminders, anything else that you may use? Do you keep good books, daily or weekly to be sure that you are staying on the right track? Some think anyone can work from home, yet most of us know that it takes alot of self discipline.

What I do and recommend is to make money. Yea, because it is the biggest reason most of us are here. If we make make we keep motivated. So what better to do to stay motivated than to earn money? If you want to stay motivated what better investment than a little effort to make money in exchange of great motivation? Short advice: Make money and stay motivated in one plan. But there are other things that motivate me. And they are very very very important. They may not be the basis (money) but they can be as much important. They are everything from helping people achieve success to making a world changing act. But you have to find your motivations and what triggers you the most. I simply refuse to believe that you are on the right track. If you were on the right you would not have motivation problems. One of three things is happening to you:
First: You are not making enough money to stay motivated and happy with your own work.
Second: You are making money but doing something completed unrelated with anything you like or feel connected with.
Third: You do make enough money and are indeed something you enjoy, but you are spending too much work hours on it, and not enjoying in full other aspects of your life and the fruits of you labor.

I think money is probably the worst motivator because when it doesn't come, dissapointment sets in...

My family is my biggest motivator... I have pictures of my kids on top of my computer and every time i get tired or feel like giving up... i just look up, smile and keep plodding along...

David,
Thank you for sharing your insight with us. Hopefully everyone who is working from home is making money. Or close to showing a profit. I personally have alot of motivation, but there are those days that it would be easier to attend to other things than do all my online business. I try to get most of my heavy work done while the kids are in school and my husband is at work. And then check in from time to time the rest of the day. My family is really understanding, so if I go into overtime..lol..its okay too. Lynn

Hey Lifestyle Home Services. Your statement just proves mine. When money doesn't come it is a great disappointment. That is why I said one should invest on it, because when it comes in it motivates us a lot. In fact it makes us very excited to make our first dollars or even pennies. But we sure need to get other motivation forms. Money itself is not enough to make such complex beings as we are happy.

And for you now Lynn:
I really appreciate you managing your time with your family's schedule. That is really one of the biggest reasons we try to develop a flexible business.
Success to you Lynn

Hey David,

The problem, however, by relying on money as the motivator, when you take enough setbacks the opposite happens... Negativity sets in and and motivation lacks...

When your family is the motivating factor, there are no setbacks - just bumps in the road.

It could also be said that a Home, a Car, a Yacht or other "Big" thing can be a motivating factor... But money, without a purpose to use it on has no meaning...

Supporting a charity could be a motivating factor, as could planning the Ultimate Wedding.

But what is Money without purpose ?

Some people say Money is the root of all Evil.... Others say, The LOVE of money is the root of all evil - When we look at all the crime in the world, with money being the ultimate reason for most crimes - this probably has a lot of merit!

Eric,
I have an actual wall of motivation. It started with some art work that my daughter did way back when we first moved in..and over the years I have covered an entire wall with artwork, family photos, to winter concert programs, to postcards or movie stubs......our life is on that wall. And yes, this wall is directly behind my computer, so everytime I look up..I too can smile and get back to my tasks. Take care, Lynn

Hi Lynn:
Who does not like money and all the big things you can do with it?
Still money should not be the main motivator because I see a lot of lives destroyed by this false god. If you give good use to your wealth, supporting your family, improving your mind and helping your neighbors or creating wealth and well being for others then money is a good. thing.
My main motivation is not money. It's waking up every morning and feeling alive and being able to love the people around you , nature and the simple things of life.
Many millionaires do not realize that the secret is in the simple things and most of them you can get for free.

How do I stay motivated? I make sure I keep up to date with the latest from my fellow networkers, read through the posts in the forums, the messages and information usually give me a big lift each day, some of the stories are so inspirational, you can't help but get buzzed about your business.

I also make sure that when I am adding resources they are all correct set out and bookmarked in their own categories, 1 day, 2 days, 1 week etc which makes it much easier to just click on and do the work for contacts for that day and its done with a minimum of fuss.

Mostly, clear my head at the end of the day by putting my business aside and listen to my kids and husband and share their day with them.

Happiness to all

The rest has been told in a previous article.

What keeps me motivated? You all do. I love spending time with like-minded people on-line, because whenever I am feeling down or disheartened, or something goes wrong, or something is disappointing, I can come here and find the inspiration to keep going. Sure I have hopes, dreams and goals, but on a day to day basis, my motivation is you.

Monika & Wayne,
I always see a light at the end of the tunnel. I am also a person who is happy with progress. It can be very minor, but progress is another great motivator for me.
