Staying Positive Stops Ankle Grabbers

Some of you may be wondering what an ankle grabber is. Well, they are the people, be them family or friends(even though true friends don't do this) who do not like the idea of anyone trying to better themselves. So as you are climbing up the ladder of life, be it personal or professional, they are grabbing at your ankles trying to bring you down.

When I was growing up, my parents used to say that friend or that boy is just bringing you down. But, since I knew everything..lol. I never listened. But, as I got older I could begin to see what they meant. And now that I am even older and can refect in a truer light. I can see what they were trying to say.

While there are those that choose to act in this negative manner, I choose to surround myself with positive people. It always makes me think about how much they could be accomplishing, if these people used all their negative energy, and put it into doing something positive. They would be amazed with the results.

Sadly, this happens online as well as offline. Sometimes more often online as people can hide behind their words. It sometimes can actually damage a persons reputation. I am talking about the reputation of the one doing the ankle grabbing. Because, time is very important to all of us. So most choose to stay positive and avoid the negative and drama.

I am sure most of us have dealt with this in our lives at some point. I just feel its important to stay the path. There really is something to the saying...When life gives you lemons, make lemonade...that is what I try to do.

Enjoy the day, Lynn

In Australia we call it Tall Poppy Syndrome, where successful people are the tall poppies which negative people try to cut down. You are right. I think you just need to notice it, recognise it for what it is and move onwards and upwards. Nearly midnight here, so you have a good day, and I'll say "good night".

Hi Lynn,

Thanks for your wonderful article.

This is true that when we are surrounded by positive people, you always get the required energy which propels in the postive direction.

However, there are occassions when you are surrounded by People with Negative Energy, but then you can let them remain in that state, especially when they are your closest ones. In such situations one is required to maintain a very high level of Energy (of postive thoughts) to transform the energy pattern of those not so gifted or not so fortunate.

Thanks for your thought provoking Article.

Penny,
Tall Poppy Syndrome - what a great name for this. After a cup or two of coffee, I changed my title to grabbers instead of pullers..lol.. Someday I will learn to wake up fully before writing. But, then again I doubt it, as I usually like to write about whatever when it hits me. Thank goodness for the edit button. Now if we could just get that for comments :) Sleep well, talk later, Lynn

I agree that it is always best to remain positive. I try to change people negative thoughts to positive. But, I do agree that sometimes, it seems like it can't be done. So then I have to step back and return my focus to what I need to get done. But, I still remain upbeat around these individuals...because sooner or later a little positive just might rub off on them :) Lynn
