I wrote an blog here a while back that relates to branding yourself:

Google Me… What Comes Up When Someone Searches Your Name?

After reading the above come back for more below:

Most times online people try to hide their identity as a business owner - trying to remain anonymous means losing credibility. Once someone adds a real picture and a profile they begin to get noticed. Still more is required for your market to get to know, like and trust you. Being involved in social networks like Apsense helps to begin that process. Offering help and quality info will increase one's level of earned trust and respect.

Knowing that information is want makes this wonderful internet machine work contributing quality information should be one of your first concerns. Doing this in social networks, forums, blogs and such is all great. Writing articles for submission to article directories is also important. Including a resource box with the article is also an ideal spot to "brand yourself". In fact the resource box is critical to branding yourself and should not be lightly used and include links to other peoples programs.

Which leads me to the issue of your own website. If you are an affiliate marketer you most likely know to buy domain names and redirect long affiliate urls to a relevant short url. do not use your own name domain name to redirect to another program. I said that strongly but I feel very strongly about this. When branding yourself you need to highlight your content and offer a place for others to interact with you. You can also use this domain for submitting to article directories as most will not let you place affiliate links nor redirects even in your resource box.

A website of your own allows you to highlight any program you want when you want and even remove them if you so wish. A website of your own shows you are professional unless you choose to create banner farms and the such. It is the place to upload your photo, bio, your own articles, videos, products an more. A blog can do this nicely. Be careful about free alternatives which come with restrictions.

Your choice in hosting can actually affect your name branding if you use a free service that so nicely displays someone else's logo on your site reflects on your image in the eyes of many of your visitors. It also means that the amount of bandwidth which is basically the amount of people that are able to visit you in a month is highly restricted.

If you are not willing to open yourself to the web and include a picture of yourself (recent and preferably with a real smile), your name and a bit of relevant info about yourself then you may as well go hide under a rock and keep hoping for success online. The so called gurus know this. The reason they are "guru" is because we who see their face, hear their audios, view their videos, read their articles have decided they have earned this status.

It takes time, it takes work and it takes guts to create content and put your face and name on it. When that content is perceived as quality it commands respect. It is easy to earn expert status when you write about something you are passionate about. You know something that I don't know or you may know how to do it differently. Share the information you hold within and start to brand yourself as an expert in that field or niche.

If you are afraid or think that you can not write... don't worry anyone can. There are tips out there but the first tip I can give you is to begin to write as if you were explaining it verbally to someone. Start putting pen to paper. It is really the only way to start. Here is a great blog on article writing by one of my Apsense friends, Terry Simpson: Tips For Creating An Article Outline

If you haven't started yet what are you waiting for? Post your photo on your apsense profile. Say a little about yourself. Post a blog, Record your voice and post it to your ABC, Create a video and post it to you tube than embed here too, Start banding yourself today. And of course if you need help post a subject here. If you don't know already every content page you create will earn you money when others view your content. More incentive to start right away!
