You want to buy New Computer?

Shopping for a new computer My parents had not bought a new computer for seven years. In computer technology circles, that means their computer at home is archaic. Technology changes so fast, once you buy the latest new gadget, it automatically is old. They needed to start updating what they had so that they could install anything possibly new. They could not download a single song because they had no memory. They were still using dial up to access the computer and so it was often impossible to get a hold of them- their phone was busy and it took them hours to get online.

My mother would often go to the library rather than wait for her own computer. We decided to go shopping to get them a brand new computer. Because it had been awhile since I had even bought a new computer, there was a lot I didn't know and a lot of new information about key products, like choosing a computer mouse, a keyboard or screen. My brother, who was involved with more high tech equipment at work, came along to purchase touch screen panel for work. When we arrived at the computer store, they asked us what we were using our computer for.

We let them know it was a personal computer and it wouldn't be used much for anything other than email and letter writing, the occasional card and definitely for downloading photos and music. My brother said that he was looking for touch screen panel with a capacitive sensor and character recognition. The salesperson called another salesperson, who was more knowledgeable about more technical products, over for assistance. Our salesperson showed us several models of the latest styles of computers.

My parents decided they wanted a laptop and not a computer with a separate monitor. One decision down. The salesperson showed us different styles of keyboards and a variety of computer mouse styles. There was the touchpad, the track pad and a touchpad keyboard. So many options to choose from. A touchpad keyboard had a touchpad built into the keyboard- a built in mouse into the laptop. A touchpad or a track pad could be bought separately, a wide type of mouse with sensors beneath a thin screen- allowing you to move about the laptop screen with ease. It really is a substitute for a mouse.

Most often called touchpads now- they were called track pads at one time. The salesperson let us know that we could find touchpads in PDA's, personal digital assistant like an organizer such as a palm pilot. So my parents decided to get a laptop with a touchpad keyboard- already as part of their new computer. They bought new software and anti-virus protection as well as a small camera to talk to our relatives in Saudi Arabia. Overall, a fantastic purchase. My brother found the touch screen he was looking for, complete with character recognition and a capacitive sensor. A month later, I got an email from my parents who had decided to trade in their laptop and get a side by side monitor set complete with 80 gigs, touch screen panel and a digital camera to create movies. They went from archaic to futuristic!

They took all of our home movies and turned them into high-tech dramas with soundtracks and special effects. I thought about the dramatic difference between what they use to have and what they have now. I was very proud of my parents for embracing technology and making the most out of their new system.

So, interesting or not? I hope this one will help you today
