Many sites (Link exchanges, Advertising etc,) have certain rules about ALL CAPITALS in a subject line or Message Body.

I automatically delete all messages with ALL Capitals simply because i don't like Blatant "LOOK AT ME FIRST" subjects.

Does APsense have any general terms about ALL CAPITALS in subject lines and what are others opinions on CAPITAL marketing ?

I don't mind all caps in a subject title. The whole idea is to get your attention. What I hate is when they repeat words over and over in all caps. It's like........enough already, I'm reading your post you don't have to keep shouting. LOL

Eric, I kinda agree with a bit. What most people don't know, all caps in the subject is considered poor internet etiquette. It implies that you're yelling at someone, and
no one likes to be yelled at. Your reaction to all caps in the subject line proves this point.

It also screams, "I'm a newbie, and don't know what I'm doing" to experienced marketers. There is another tactic that speaks similarly and that is using the word "please" in the subject. You may be saying "Please" as a matter of politeness, but to experienced marketers it sounds like begging.

I know there are those who may disagree with this, but I have attend professional seminars on the subject and this is the modern consensus.

There is a place for "all caps." In a chat room designed for the elderly who have seeing problems. Everywhere else, as Jonathan says, it is bad ettiquette and is a form of written shouting. People are bombarded everywhere they go by advertisements-using bad ettiquette may make your advertisement stand out among others, but I guarantee you, you won't make any sales......or friends!

I will not read anything with all capitals. I think it is horrible and have no use for it.

As a general rule, it is bad manners. But... there is a place for all caps. If you truly have an urgent message for example... or TIME SENSITIVE, reply by 7 pm - you get the idea.

OMG, Karen, i think i agree with you.... ;o)

A word or 2 within a SUBJECT or BODY is good for highlighting certain points.... Its the ALL CAPS SITUATION THAT IS POOR ETIQUETTE....

NO WAY! oops... and this is one of those times when emphasis is required! ROFL

I don't think we're as far apart on... other issues... as it appears we are either.

I have always been taught that all caps in an email or in an instant message means you are shouting at somebody, so I agree, all caps in a subject line comes across as rude to me. It is like you said, it's like they're shouting "look at me, look at me!" and I find that a huge turn off. I prefer a little subtlety in my subject lines.

I agree for the most part. All caps in subject or body is not only seen as shouting and impolite but its a darn side harder to read as well.

If you need the subject to stand out, take it as gospel from an old graphics designer and compositor, capitalize just one or two carefully chosen words. It will create more of an impact than anything else.
