It's not easy for me to determine if a site is a scam or not. I rely on BehindMLM's articles a lot. I'd like to know where you turn to for advice on scams,. Thanks!

When it comes to scams, I don't trust any single source. I generally look for 5 different sources who all verify the same things. I look at behindmlm, ripoffreport, hoax-slayer, scam.com, snopes, scam trends, consumer reports, bbb, consumerreports, scambook, scamdex, blogs, the lists go on and on.... but I always seek 5 different reports from 5 different websites. Hope this helps :)

I agree with Bruce. Regardless the topic, a person should do their own multi-resource research before making major Business decisions.
BUT don't the two of of you believe that the GUT instinct we all possess (we may repress it for social reasons) is usually a good indicator?

i think that depends on a persons experience and business sense. For me i can spot the scams before i ever do a search simply because i understand some basic things about scams.

If there is a guarantee on how much you will earn based on how much you invest, reguardless of any product its an hyip.
If you purchase shares and the company is not registered with the ftc its not legal for US citizens to join and is considered a fraud and USUALLY an hyip.
If there is no product sold TO the public at large with out them joining the business as an affiliate AND its a multi level based referral business its a scheme
If you can take the products out of a mlm and it still makes money its a scheme. For example if you take the products out of avon, no money can be made... if you took the products out of the zeekrewards auction site you would have realized the same thing the US gov't found - it was still making money without products, thus was a pyramid scheme.

these basic rules can be used to spot nearly every scam ever I have encountered online
