You can make money on the internet. I have proved it for myself as when I started I spent no money to advertise in the first year and my first opportunity was a singles site I got for free. This site has now made me about $40,000 usd in the past 5 years.
The first thing you need to know is you will not succeed with any program unless you promote it every day until you get 10,000 plus web site visiters to that opportunity every day.
You also need to know that it takes months after any advertising until it starts to work, so there is like a 3 month delay in anything you do.
Also selling products does not work, you need a service based opportunity something that is not readily available offline.
