Our first introduction to the vending machine business was
from a notice that we got in the paper about a Vending Seminar. It was
being held about an hour away in Allen Park, Michigan.
We were there along with about 200 other people. They had
all sorts of vending machines on display.
The presenters gave their talk about the different kinds
of machines. Not only would they help you place the machines but they were also
there to help you finance them. The presenters were very interesting...
especially when they got to the charts and the graphs. These were very big and
very colorful, they showed just how much you would make if you had a vending
business.
Now remember they had not only the vending machines but also
the financing and.... they were going to help you place those brand spanking new
vending machines so we could start on our way to making a fortune. Not only that
but we would only have to work 2 days a week at the most. Now I ask you.... does
that sound like a great business to be in or what!!!!
So if the charts and graphs showed how much we could make
with just 1 or 2 machines, lets just figure how much we could make with a few
more machines. Keep in mind you may have to work 3 days a week. But not to worry
cause the stops and the financing were all going to be taken care
of.
I bet there were businesses out there just waiting for us
to place those new machines at their place. May I repeat... financing was all
taken care of.
How could you not pull out your credit card and sign that
almost to good to be true agreement on the dotted line.
My husband who had been in sales all of his life was a bit
more skeptical than others in attendance AND me, thank
goodness.
During the break he chit chatted with a few of the
presenters and got the card of a gentleman by the name of Clark... and we
LEFT!!!!!!
We got in the car and I asked him why we didn't buy those
machines and be on our way to retiring in just a couple of years. Only having to
work 2 or 3 days a week.
Well the look that he gave me made me wonder what he knew
that I didn't.
The following week he called Clark. A few weeks later
we had our first stop and our first vending machine.
We still have that same machine and that same
stop.
That was well over 15 years ago.
Seminars are for getting information, asking questions,
seeing what is available.
