Think about this:

There are two car sales man, the both want to sell a new model of cars, say model ShrinkAndPark. It is a great model, if folds itself in the tiniest parking spot. It is revolutionairy and new, the price tag is accordingly.

Both present the car on a bog auto show. One in the country site in a city where there in plenty of room, the other one in a big city. Who do you think will sell the most cars?

This is also relevant for advertising on social sites. Some products are best suited to advertise on sites attracting a general public or a public with specific interests, others will do great on social business networks.
