Auli is a popular ski destination and one of the most interesting and beautiful places to visit in Uttarakhand. At an average height of 2800 meters, it is nestled in the lap of snow-capped peaks of Garhwal region Himalayas, in the Chamoli district. The Hill station of Auli is famous as a trekking destination, adventure tourism, and snow-capped mountains. It has a plethora of wildflowers and trees like oaks, coniferous, deodars and pine forests. Auli resort is run by Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN) which hire snow beaters to keep the slopes fit for skiing that is as high as 9000 feet above sea level and offers stunning views of Himalayas.

Dressing warm is a must when you are in Auli. Your body is best kept warm using woolen clothes. One should pack a pair of warm woolen gloves that can be wear inside the ski mittens. Get start your day with dry socks inside warm dry boots. Your head should be protected and covered when you go for skiing. Protect yourselves and the kids’ eyes by always wearing sunglasses. You will need the extra protection and visibility enhancement of goggles that you can rent from GMVN.

At 9,500-10,500 ft. the air is thin at that height and lets a greater quantum of UV rays enter the atmosphere which is harmful. Do apply liberal quantities of suns cream and lip balm. At high altitudes, drink lots of water or fruit juice. One should remember to carry a bottle of water along.
