Nofollow means Google doesn't consider those as backlinks but those are still useful if taken from project relavent sites.
Dofollow means Google crawl and index those links as valid backlinks.

NoFollow: The Nofollow tag tells search engines to ignore that link. Because Nofollow links do not pass PageRank they likely don’t impact search engine rankings.

DoFollow: Dofollow is a descriptor of links describing that search engines crawl them and count them as votes of quality.


No-Follow is just for gathering traffic If you have more do-follow the more your site grow Organically in Search Engine like Yahoo, Bing, DuckDuckGo andGoogle Search because it is relevant to the information on the source page/post.

In essence, it is like an endorsement or recommendation of the destination website’s content.

Nofollow links don’t allow search engine bots to follow your links.These links don’t pass on link juice but Google have recently noticed that they will count Nofollow links to boost PR for your page.here you can check the type of links: Dofollow or Nofollow.
Right-click on a page and click “view source. You will see a screenshot. In the source code, you need to press Ctrl+F and search for your site name and comments in the screenshot. Now you can check the type of a link. many useful extensions you can download for Firefox or Chrome automatically that will define whether a link is Dofollow or Nofollow.
