Work is Worship

“If you do what you love, you will love what you do.” So true. Life is not always a bed of roses. We may not get the dream job they wished for and may have to take up the first job we secure. Irrespective of whether we like it or not, we are forced to take up a job to earn our livelihood and fend for the family. It is often seen that after innumerable job applications and a few interviews, people get tired of the entire exercise and give up. However, when we give up, we are actually closing the door upon the opportunities waiting for us. That is why, in life, we must never give up or give in, only give it our everything.

In that respect, Mr. KK Nayak feels he is lucky and fortunate enough to be doing a job he is passionate about. He says, “Everyday when I wake up, I am happy and motivated. For me, my job is not a chore, it is not boring. Before leaving home for work, I analyze how I can contribute to myself, my team, my organization, and the society.” Doing a job we love brings satisfaction and is an effective morale booster. Studies have proven that self-motivated individuals are initiative takers, out-of-the-box thinkers, and best employees. Their productivity at work is very high as compared to others. They are the ones who almost always grab the “Employee of the Year” award.

Mr. Khitish Kumar Nayak is one such dedicated professional who has helped various businesses achieve their objectives and desired results. He has delivered tangible results in a majority of companies during leadership roles (last 20 years of his 28 years career). KK Nayak was born on 28 August 1966 in Odisha, India. After completing his I Sc from Ravenshaw college ( 110 years old college from British Time ), he enrolled himself in one of the most reputed Engineering Colleges in Odisha called VSSUT (now an autonomous university ). He earned his B. Tech degree from this college in June 1988, where he was among the top students. KK Nayak started his career as an executive trainee in OIL INDIA LTD (At Duliajan, Assam). He went under that drilling from 1988 to 89. Having gained a year’s experience, he worked for various other big companies in the same industry. As a result, over the years, he has developed effective knowledge about accomplishing different types of projects especially related to oil and gas. He has a lot of experience handling operations, project management, strategy planning, business strategies and development, and project coordination.

He says that self-motivation is an important prerequisite for an employee to hit the ground running. Those who are dependent on external motivation from their higher-ups often show reduced productivity when the rewards stop coming. This spirals down and becomes a cycle. Today, companies focus on individuals who are self-motivated and have a high self-esteem. Thus, it is essential for every employee to develop a liking for his/her job. Mr. K K Nayak has only one piece of advice for the youth, “Do what you love. Never be under parental pressure and take up a job just for the sake of it. Your ultimate aim is to make a career you will be proud of years down the line.”
