Wireless Technology Improvements Reshaping the World

by Basant K. Global Market Research Reports

At present, there have been some noteworthy technologies which have been launched associated to the field of wireless engineering. It has been promised that radical improvements will be made in the methods through which we work, learn, play and interact. Looking at the research and development activities underway, there are higher possibilities that the dream for a futuristic world is not far away.

Below mentioned are some of the influential wireless technologies which will soon acquire a breakthrough status in the following couple of years.

Terabit Satellite

When we talk about satellite broadband, it is usually visualized as a ho-hum technology. Although satellites can now reach out to remote and hilly regions, their traditional performance restrictions have ranked them as the last option when it comes to fixed broadband applications. Currently, the earth is circled by 400 or more commercial satellites that manage an aggregate capacity of nearly 2.5 terabits per second. Have you thought about a single company launching three satellites managing one terabit each? With all such developments across the field of wireless technologies, there has been other subsidiary advancements like boost in the Wi-Fi kiosks market, which has been evenly accepted across the global. The future awaits more such innovations, when merged with existing wireless technologies to present something more vast and complex to cater the needs of millions of people.

If this concept is managed, then homes, airplanes, businesses, ships, as well as oil-drilling platforms which presently stagger along would get a major boost with the availability of service plans that run from 100 Mbps to 1 Gbps across the satellites’ service areas. Even though satellite would still be perplexing for applications like voice and video conferencing, which are highly interactive but for all other applications would surely benefit. It is expected that the first set of Viasat-3 satellites would be launched by the end of 2019, and successive launches would be cheaper due to the incorporation of reusable rockets developed by Space-X.

Passive Wi-Fi

The growing demand for smart homes, factories and offices, is proving to be a serious bonus for energy saving, security, as well as overall suitability. However, the devices which monitor and control lights, cooling & heating, and appliances can tend to be twice or more expensive as compared to conventional switches. So there is a need for inexpensive and powerless Wi-Fi interfaces which doesn’t cost more than a dollar apiece for its construction. As a solution to this problem, a “Passive Wi-Fi” will soon be introduced that functions almost similar to passive radio-frequency identification (RFID) devices deployed to track inventory in warehouse and retail applications. However, passive Wi-Fi can reach farther up to 100 feet and can even penetrates through walls.

Millimeter Wave

There is no scope for a new spectrum but technology companies are surely working on delivering new radio chips which can make use of enormously high frequencies that were only kept confined for military purposes. The benefit of these frequencies is to carry enormous volumes of data over short distances.

There have been new chips from Silicon Valley and Qualcomm which are cracking this spectrum, thereby, alleviating spectrum scarcity in tightly populated areas. This is achieved with the use of small cells that comprise of dark fiber backhaul. Hence, it points out that higher data rates and slightly substantial data limits concerning mobile phones as well as fixed-location services aimed at farms and rural households.

5G Networks

Currently, both Verizon and Nokia have initiated trials to manage 5G networks so as to develop an international 5G standard predicted to be dropped in 2020. Their efforts have been joined by AT&T and Ericsson, which have also planned to start their systematic trials. The conclusion of these trials is to ensure whether or not the official 5G standard is reliable and efficient. As per reports, the target for 5G speed is way beyond 1 Gbps per cell, possibly scaling up to 10 Gbps!

However, the most important is the efficiency of 5G that will support multiple squares of spectrum at multiple frequencies simultaneously. On the other hand, 5G also aims to shelter both licensed and unlicensed spectrum with interoperable protocols which will enable seamless handoffs along with quick downloads.
