People know Artificial Intelligence as mere ‘Intelligent Machines,’ while it is a vast topic that is often left undiscussed. Artificial Intelligence is the stimulation of human intelligence by machines. In simple words, if a device has the ability to perform specific tasks that utilize elements of human intelligence like speech recognition, language translation, decision making and visual perception, then it can be called Artificial Intelligence. 

Over the years, Science has taken huge leaps in the field of innovation. In addition, Technology was also never left behind; artificial intelligence as its branch has developed as well. Business tycoons and governments are investing loads of money into adopting Artificial Intelligence in their infrastructure, researching and developing it to integrate them with all Smart Device.

●     Vaccine Development during the Pandemic: The Covid-19 Pandemic took the world up like storm, with millions of deaths all over the world. Doctors and experts all over the world use AI to test out different combinations of already present drugs to develop vaccines that could fight the virus. They succeeded in vaccine development and gave hope back to the world. 

●     Autonomous Driving Vehicles: A few years ago, it was like a dream, a fantasy, a chapter from a sci-fi book to have cars that can drive on their own. Today, fully autonomous vehicles are making their way on the roads. This has all been achieved through Artificial Intelligence and the team of professionals working behind it. 

AI being a vast topic with loads of possibilities, can be categorized into four types depending on its ability to perform tasks. 

The types of AI are explained below:- 

●     Reactive Machines

●     Limited Memory

●     Theory of Mind

●     Self Awareness 

Reactive Machines: 

Reactive Machines are basic AI that does not have the ability to do any advanced tasks that would require them to store information in their memory. As the name suggests, their actions are based on reactions to information that they gather from objects or situations in front of them. Due to a lack of storage ability, they cannot do actions that would require them to contemplate a past experience. 

These machines might not be as advanced as the machines made today; however, they have the capability to perform remarkably if repeated actions are involved. They can also handle complex situations thrown at them if they have enough data right in front of them. 

Limited Memory: 

Limited Memory Machines have an attractive ability to look into past recorded memories to make present predictions and decisions. They can handle more complex situations that will require them to make decisions themselves without any data. The requirement for this is they need to store training sessions or reference data which they can refer back to when trying to make predictions as to what comes next. 

Six steps must be followed when using limited memory AI in machine learning: 

●     Training data must be created

●     The machine learning model must be created

●     Predictive capabilities are essential in the model

●     Feedback from humans or the environment must be possible for the model

●     That feedback must be stored as data

●     Auto Repetition of these steps is essential 

Theory of Mind: 

This is the next stage of AI development which we haven’t achieved until now. This level of AI will have the ability to read the emotions and feelings of living beings and other machines to make decisions with consideration. Therefore this level of AI will read our minds and be both comprehensible and considerate. 

There are innumerable possibilities where they can prove to be incredibly resourceful. The best example is being able to be a partner to a lonely person. An elderly person who is all alone can have a machine to treat them like family. If this stage is achieved, AI will be multiple steps closer to humans in terms of both intelligence and emotions. 

Self Awareness: 

This is the final and ultimate stage of Artificial Intelligence, where they will possess the capability to not only have human intelligence and emotions but will also be clear about their existence in this world and their purpose. They will be self-aware and will communicate with humans like humans. 

This seems like a long way ahead today, but that’s how everything futuristic once looked. At the pace at which Technology is evolving, the days aren’t far when machines and humans can mutually exist as equals.
